Thoughts of the Graphic Sort

A place where I can discuss my addiction to graphic novels.

Ack! Visitors!

This is the about me section where you can find all kinds of tidbits all about me that will help explain what this blog is about, what I’m about, and why I have a blog about stuff.  That’s a lot of abouts.  So let’s drop some knowledge:

I am a female who loves graphic novels.  I don’t go for superhero comics (except the excellent Invincible series by Robert Kirkman) because I’m just not into the DC or Marvel universe or those types of stories and characters.  I prefer my graphic novels to explore relationships, have some sort of character development, and generally be self-contained (I made an exception for the crossover issues of Sandman because that’s just a series no one can ignore and still call themselves fans of graphic novels).  I’m really into war stories or those that deal with historical issues, like Art Spiegelman’s Maus, which combines both.

So, in a nutshell: if it has a good story with believable and interesting characters, I’ll read it.

I write this blog because I love talking about graphic novels and sharing them with others.  So if you have any comments about the reviews I’ve posted or suggestions for graphic novels you think I should read, please let me know.  I can also be reached at Jean [dot] Paul [dot] Bass [at] gmail [dot] com.  Let’s get a discussion going!
